Role Overview

Assists patients and families in coping with problems resulting from severe or long-term illness. Provides direct social casework services, including goal setting, counseling, and planning interventions. Advises agency personnel, clients, and families of community resources and their eligibility criteria.

Assesses psychosocial status of clients, provides direct social casework services, advises on community resources, and maintains client care records.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work required
  • Thorough knowledge of social work principles and methods
  • Knowledge of individuals and group behavior and ways of working effectively with adults, children, and families
  • Ability to exercise independent professional judgment in complex situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and families, staff members, outside agencies, and institutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
