Job Description
The Principal Instrumentation & Controls Designer plays a critical role in delivering high-quality design and drafting services to support complex engineering projects across the energy, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. This role supports the organization's mission of delivering innovative, safe, and sustainable solutions by providing advanced I&C design expertise from concept to completion.
Requirements
Associate degree in a technical discipline (Instrumentation, Electrical Design, or related field)
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and SmartPlant Instrumentation (Intools)
Strong understanding of I&C design standards, including the ability to interpret and update P&IDs, loop drawings, and one-line diagrams
Proficient in 3D modeling and drafting software tools, with the ability to generate accurate and detailed deliverables
Skilled in organizing and managing complex design data from multiple sources
Experience conducting field verification and site walks to validate design intent and drawing accuracy
Industry Experience: Demonstrated experience in a related field such as engineering design, operations, construction, maintenance, fabrication, or environmental services
Prior experience supporting offshore and/or onshore projects is preferred
Competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
Familiarity with navigating intranet portals and electronic documentation systems (EDMS)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and take initiative while collaborating effectively with project stakeholders
Comfortable working in dynamic project environments and adapting to evolving requirements
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; able to manage complex design issues with minimal guidance
Willingness and ability to work onsite as required, including participation in field activities and walkdowns
