Role Overview

The Housing Assistant will work with Section 8 applicants and tenants, speaking to them in their appropriate language, and perform related work. The position will report to the Assistant Housing Manager(s) with some latitude for independent judgment and decision-making. The Housing Assistant's responsibilities will include maintaining voucher holders' records, serving as the primary point of contact for property owners and case managers, and conducting informal conferences & reviews.

What You Will Do

The Housing Assistant's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: maintaining voucher holders' records, serving as the primary point of contact for property owners and case managers, conducting informal conferences & reviews, interviewing applicants, reviewing documents, determining eligibility, conducting sex offender and criminal background checks, and resolving voucher holder related issues.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in Spanish, have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and have experience in housing management, including interviewing applicants, determining eligibility, gathering and evaluating information to resolve complaints, collecting rents, and resolving tenant-related problems.
