Role Overview

The HVAC Maintenance Technician supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of campus facilities by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installations related to HVAC systems and other mechanical systems. This position services academic, residential, administrative, dining, and event spaces across campus while supporting the daily operations and goals of Stephens College. The technician will work independently on assigned tasks, participate in an on-call rotation, and assist during emergencies, campus events, and peak workload periods.

What You Will Do

Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installations related to HVAC systems and other mechanical systems. Work with Building Automation Systems (BAS) to monitor and adjust system performance. Assist with plumbing repairs and maintenance, and respond to water leaks, heating/cooling failures, and emergency maintenance situations.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of HVAC controls and mechanical systems, and experience with Building Automation Systems (Trane, Johnson Controls, Siemens, etc.) is preferred.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of HVAC controls and mechanical systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to HVAC and mechanical systems
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload effectively
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, meters, gauges, and diagnostic equipment
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills including email and work order systems
