Role Overview

NYLAG has an immediate opening for an Immigration Policy Director who will lead systemic policy advocacy work within NYLAG and in partnership with other immigration service providers in New York. The Policy Director will provide strategic leadership in identifying and responding to changes in immigration law and policy to support communities and advocates.

What You Will Do

Provide strategic leadership, engage in policy advocacy, coordinate meetings and emails, develop trainings and resources, bring together partner agencies, identify opportunities for impact litigation, provide comments and testimony, serve as a resource for NYLAG and partner organizations.

Why It Might Be a Fit

This role requires a Juris Doctorate and admission in good standing to a Bar Association in the U.S. with a minimum of 10-15 years of experience in immigration law or policy and legislative advocacy. The ideal candidate will have expertise building and managing relationships with legal and social service organizations, community-based organizations, and elected officials.

  • Expertise building and managing relationships with legal and social service organizations, community-based organizations, and elected officials
  • Experience providing direct services to immigrant communities in New York
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Highly organized and able to juggle multiple priorities

Benefits

  • Salary range: $130,000 - $140,000
