Role Overview

The Instructional Assistant - Special Education will provide support and assistance to teachers in coordinating instructional programs for special education students. They will maintain an environment conducive to learning, monitor programs with students with disabilities, and comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines.

What You Will Do

The main day-to-day responsibilities of this role include providing support to teachers, assisting with strategies related to behavioral intervention plans, and maintaining a positive disposition to promote progress towards independence and self-determination for all students.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six documented semester hours of coursework in early childhood education
  • Two years of work experience in an early childhood setting
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Experience working with or assisting individuals with special needs
