Role Overview

The Instrument Coordinator provides departmental oversight of instrument procurement, repair, replacement, and refurbishment. They support procedural areas service line coordinators with making modifications to instrument sets, adding, removing, implementing, and exempting, as necessary. They maintain detailed records of purchases and other tasks, following up and communicating regularly.

What You Will Do

The Instrument Coordinator maintains count sheets in SPM, generates SPM reports, adheres to established par levels, monitors outstanding receivables, and assists with capital planning. They establish a tracking system for monitoring outstanding orders, obtain price quotes, and enter requisitions for instrument and specialty purchases. They also facilitate repair or refurbishment of various surgical instruments and equipment.

They must also be able to work with limited supervision and demonstrate consistent ability to complete assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • CRCST - Cert Reg Central Service Tech or CSPDT - Cert Sterile Proc & Dist Tech
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
  • Certification in sterile processing
  • Minimum 2 years in an inpatient sterile processing technician role required
  • Previous Loaner Coordinator experience strongly preferred
