Role OverviewThe Instrument Technician will be responsible for executing field survey related activities on assigned projects, including maintaining project control, topographic data collection, construction layout, and as-built documentation. They will report to the jobsite and integrate with the operational management of the project, focusing on cost and schedule enhancement, quality, and collaboration with the design team.
What You Will Do
The Instrument Technician will operate and set up surveying instruments, transfer grid lines and elevations, identify survey tools and material, and provide surveying equipment maintenance. They will also perform field work in support of civil construction projects, including layout, staking, grade checking, and utility mapping.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working on new construction projects in commercial or civil environments, a high school diploma or equivalent, and 2+ years of experience as a Field Survey Technician or Construction layout. - Able to work approximately 95% of the time in the field
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Must be self-motivated and can work well with others
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Ability to perform heavy lifting/pushing/pulling of material weighing 50 pounds
- Ability to squat, crawl, and work in confined spaces
- Ability to stand for long periods, walk over all types of terrain
- Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions
- Minimum age 18+
