Job Description
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking a skilled and highly collaborative professional to serve as a liaison between the Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations (BWSO) and the Bureau of Public Affairs & Communications (BPAC).

Requirements

  • Function as the primary conduit between BWSO and BPAC, facilitating timely information flow and working closely with BWSO engineers, planners, and field operations to understand project goals, operational impacts, and schedules.
  • Manage requests for technical clarification, project updates, and operational status reports from BPAC and other stakeholders.
  • Interpret and synthesize complex sewer engineering, operations, and capital project information into clear, jargon-free language for briefing materials and public-facing presentations to community boards, elected officials, residents, and advocacy groups.
  • Collaborate to prepare visually engaging presentations, diagrams, and communication materials explaining system operations, infrastructure improvements, emergency responses, and program initiatives.
  • Collaborate with both bureaus to plan outreach strategies for major drainage projects.
  • Assist with drafting and editing public notices, web content, press materials, fact sheets, and social media content related to water and sewer operations.
