Role Overview

The Transportation Programs Division (TPD) is offering year-round, part-time engineering internships to gain valuable work experience while pursuing an undergraduate degree. The intern will join a workforce of over 12,000 employees statewide and have the opportunity to gain invaluable work experience that can carry them into the future.

What You Will Do

The intern will assist in transportation engineering support work such as construction or maintenance inspection, structural construction or maintenance, laboratory work, landscaping, surveying or engineering data collection, operating data collection equipment, and other entry-level engineering support work.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The intern will have the opportunity to develop spreadsheets, databases, and other electronic documents, gather basic data, and perform routine statistical analysis, as well as perform other job responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program in an accredited college or university accepted by TX PELS.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include a trade/vocational school.
  • Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools.
