Role Overview

The American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter provides clear, accurate interpreting services to ensure effective communication for Deaf and Hard of Hearing employees and participants at Didlake. The Interpreter supports an inclusive workplace by facilitating communication in meetings, training, events, and day-to-day interactions, both in person and through virtual platforms.

What You Will Do

Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and ASL into spoken English in meetings, trainings, orientations, interviews, and other workplace situations. Provide interpreting services in person and remotely using video conferencing technology.

Requirements

  • Current certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or another nationally recognized interpreting certification.
  • Completion of an accredited Interpreter Training Program, Associate’s Degree, or equivalent professional interpreting experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional interpreting experience.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language and English.
  • Ability to travel to Didlake locations in the greater Washington, DC and Hampton Roads areas.
  • Access to Didlake sites requires a valid REAL ID.
