Role OverviewThe Investigator will conduct investigations and aid in trial preparation for CPCS Trial Attorneys in Care and Protection, Children Requiring Assistance, Guardianship of Minors, Delinquency and Youthful Offender criminal cases in Worcester County Juvenile Courts. The Investigator will be a key member of the defense team, assisting in developing defense strategies for indigent persons by interviewing witnesses, investigating allegations made by the Department of Children and Families and District Attorneys Office, and documenting crime scenes.
What You Will Do
The Investigator's key responsibilities include locating and interviewing witnesses, investigating and documenting allegations, preparing and presenting reports, conducting surveillance, and utilizing computers for online access to public records and databases. The Investigator will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, networking with agencies, and maintaining open lines of communication with attorneys.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The successful candidate will be subject to a background check and must possess a valid and active Massachusetts driver's license. The Investigator will work collaboratively with other staff attorneys, investigators, and others as appropriate, and will occasionally be required to work with the CAFL Appeals Unit.
Requirements
- Associate degree with coursework in criminal justice, forensics, law or related area of study
- A minimum of three years of experience in juvenile or criminal defense investigations or a related investigative field
- Valid and active Massachusetts driver's license
- Full access to a dependable automobile
- Access to home internet access sufficient to work remotely
