Job Description
We are currently exploring potential candidates for an upcoming role at McDermott. The Journeyman 1-3 Ironworker performs standard structural steel erection tasks, including alignment, bolting, and some light fitting. This role requires foundational craft certification and involves working independently on routine tasks.

Requirements

  • Install steel members into an approximate position while supported by a hoisting device
  • Force structural-steel members into final position using turnbuckles, sleeve bars, and hand tools
  • Align holes in members with corresponding holes in previously placed members by using drift pins, bull pins, and spud wrenches
  • Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of members, using plumb bobs, lasers, and levels
  • Bolt members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or welded in place
  • Read and interpret basic erection plans, blueprints, and technical documents
