Job Description
Retool is seeking an IT Engineer to design and build internal systems that power the company's growth, focusing on automation, scalability, and efficiency. The role requires a strong systems thinking and automation-first mindset, with experience in building internal tools and automation systems, identity and access management, and operating across complex SaaS environments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in IT Engineering, Systems Engineering, Internal Tools, or similar roles in a fast-growing technology company
  • Proven track record of building internal tools and automation systems that eliminate manual operational work and scale business processes
  • Strong experience designing and implementing automation using programming languages such as Python or JavaScript, including API integrations and workflow orchestration
  • Deep systems thinking with an automation-first mindset. You instinctively replace manual processes with scalable solutions
  • Hands-on experience with identity and access management systems including Okta, SSO, SCIM, and RBAC, and designing reliable lifecycle workflows
  • Experience operating across complex SaaS environments, with a focus on consolidation, optimization, and cost reduction
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies, prioritize high-impact opportunities, and build durable, maintainable systems
  • Strong communication skills and ability to operate cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers and contributing to a strong engineering culture
  • High ownership mindset with a focus on measurable impact including efficiency gains, cost reduction, and risk mitigation
