Role OverviewThe ideal candidate will oversee maintenance and repairs of heavy equipment along with medium duty and light duty vehicles at project sites throughout Alaska, minimizing downtime and ensuring equipment is properly maintained. This position will report directly to the lead mechanic or Project Superintendent. This position may require travel to remote sites as needed while supporting other QAP projects.
What You Will Do
Troubleshooting and repairing equipment, including Sandvik and john henry drills. Maintenance and servicing of equipment. Coordination of maintenance and repairs of equipment with Shop Foreman. Keeping repair and maintenance records in accordance with the Shop Foreman and Safety Department's direction.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ability to work independently with limited supervision will be necessary. Must be able to work Saturdays and Sundays. Typical weekly work hours can meet or exceed 60 hours.
Requirements
- College/University/Trade School or equal experience in relevant field preferred
- Professional certifications as appliable to show experience.
- Ability to stand/work on feet for extended periods, walk on uneven terrain, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, see, and hear with frequent exposure to loud noise.
- Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles.
- Occasionally lift and move 50 pounds or greater.
- Required to pass pre-employment drug screening as well as a PAT (physical Ability Test) prior to starting work.
- Must have own tools.
- Previous experience in road construction and/or a shop setting preferred to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
- CPR and 1st Aid Certification preferred.
