Role OverviewThe Juvenile Justice Detention Officer Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for youth, supervising and instructing workers in the care and custody of youth, and ensuring that adequate safeguards are maintained for the detained youth. The role involves performing administrative functions, making daily routine inspections, and ensuring that all facility youth clothing is properly cared for, stored, and accounted for.
What You Will Do
The main day-to-day responsibilities of the Juvenile Justice Detention Officer Supervisor include making daily assignments of staff, participating in daily briefings, and ensuring that all facility reports and logs are completed accurately and on time. The role also involves ensuring that all youth have clean socks and underwear on a daily basis, strictly accounting for the paperwork, and ensuring proper use of the washing machines by staff.

The successful candidate will be able to supervise staff and youth, physically handle and interact with violent youth, and work overtime hours to ensure staff coverage and maintain security. The role requires a valid driver's license, a three-year acceptable driving record, and certification in accordance with State of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice direct care training policy.
Requirements
- High school graduate or its equivalent
- Be at least 19 years of age
- Not have been convicted of any felony or a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement
- Not have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States
- Abide by all provisions of s. 985.644 (1), regarding fingerprinting and background investigations and other screening requirements for personnel
