Role OverviewThe Juvenile Justice Detention Officer Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for youth, supervising and instructing workers in the care and custody of youth, and ensuring that adequate safeguards are maintained for the detained youth. The supervisor performs administrative functions, including orientation and training of staff, managing leave and attendance, preparing evaluations, and initiating and executing disciplinary actions. The supervisor also ensures that the Department of Juvenile Justice and facility policies are adhered to.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities include daily routine inspections of the detention facility, supervising and instructing workers, preparing evaluations, and ensuring that adequate safeguards are maintained for the detained youth. The supervisor also performs special details and projects as required, and assists detention personnel in handling youth with behavior and personal problems.

Requirements
- High school graduate or its equivalent
- Be at least 19 years of age
- Not have been convicted of any felony or a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement
- Not have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States
- Ability to supervise staff and youth
- Ability to work overtime hours
- Ability to physically handle and interact with violent youth
