Job Description
Howmet Engines is a world-class producer of aero engine and industrial gas turbine components, including airfoils, rings, disks and forgings. We are looking for 2 Lab Techs to join our Howmet Casting located in Dover, New Jersey, to perform various tasks including metallographically preparing samples, microscopically examining them, photographing selected areas, and reporting results.

Requirements

  • Ability to assist in the implementation of Howmet’s EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.
  • Compliance with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EH&S requirements.
  • Ability to perform tasks according to written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to use cut-off saw to accurately section castings.
  • Ability to use high speed grinding/polishing machines to obtain surface suitable for examinations.
  • Ability to use microscopes up to 1,000X to examine specimens, measure and evaluate quantitative and qualitative features of observed structures.
  • Ability to recognize artifacts and re-polish, if necessary.
  • Ability to document results, including photographs and measurements, in an error-free and orderly report for engineering and Chief Metallurgist review.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repair of lab equipment.
  • Ability to use computers to log/access data and manage results.
