Job Description
The New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) is seeking a Labor Compliance Officer to join the Labor Monitoring Unit. The selected candidate will monitor city-financed development projects and enforce labor law compliance, conducting field visits and analyzing payroll records to identify potential wage underpayments and other labor law violations.

Requirements

  • Monitor labor law compliance on city-financed development projects
  • Analyze payroll records to identify potential wage underpayments and other labor law violations
  • Conduct unannounced visits to active construction sites and document observations
  • Interview laborers and mechanics to assess labor conditions
  • Communicate with employers to gather payroll related information and provide labor law education
  • Perform complex calculations to determine restitution owed to underpaid workers on projects
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to collect information to support enforcement action
  • Write detailed reports to document monitoring and investigative activities
