Role OverviewAssists in the preparation and processing of patient specimens for testing in the laboratory. Safely handles potentially infectious materials and maintains accurate records. Performs various laboratory tasks, including accessioning, testing, and delivering specimens. Maintains equipment and participates in quality control procedures.
What You Will Do
Assesses patient specimens, matches order information with specimen information, and delivers prepared specimens to the testing area. Maintains computer logs, quality control, and disinfection procedures. Assists with training and orientation of new employees.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Requires strong communication and computer skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment. Must be able to maintain accurate records and follow established protocols. Laboratory experience and certification as a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) are preferred.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 2 years-Laboratory experience
- Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
