Role Overview

The Laboratory Specialist II, LLE will conduct tests and research within the Tritium and Hydrogen laboratories, assisting more experienced engineers or scientists in designing and setting up experiments, maintaining equipment, and collecting data. The role involves diagnosing and performing preventative maintenance on system components, managing inventory of contaminated equipment, and handling decontamination of radiological components and activated materials.

What You Will Do

The successful candidate will conduct experiments and operations within the Tritium Science group, oversee engineering design, documentation, purchasing, scheduling, and safety assessments, and perform preventative maintenance tasks on tritium gloveboxes and experimental systems. They will also operate and maintain various pumps, conduct testing and installations related to the vacuum system, and perform measurements in support of the experimental program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the natural sciences or engineering
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • NYS Radiation Safety Certification upon hire preferred
