Role OverviewThe Laborer - Street Maintenance position is an integral part of a team responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of over 1700 lane miles of road, 100's of acres of right-of-way, and snow removal for all City streets and HSE school parking lots. The team is responsible for maintaining the streets and right-of-way to optimum standards, and also participates in special events held in the community. Fishers DPW is the only municipal public works department in Indiana to hold the American Public Works Association (APWA) Certification.
What You Will Do
Examples of duties include patching and maintaining roads, running and operating paving crews/equipment, concrete infrastructure repairs, assists in snow removal, mowing and landscape maintenance, replaces/repairs signage, road stripping, cleans equipment and shop, and use of smartphone/tablets to complete work orders via computerized work order management system.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid drivers license and ability to be insured to drive a city vehicle required
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Drivers' License within six months of employment
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders and maintain balance
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a variety of people
- Able to handle several projects at the same time in adverse conditions
