Job Description
Interns will work alongside a licensed alcohol and drug counselor (LADC) to provide substance use disorder treatment services in accordance with 245G requirements for residential and outpatient levels of care, and gain experience with program services and tasks that meet requirements for the 12 Core Functions including, screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, case management, crisis intervention, client education, referrals, record keeping, and consultation.

Requirements

  • Observe and assist LADCs with tasks related to screening and assessments for placement.
  • Observe and facilitate new client intake process.
  • Observe and facilitate new client orientation.
  • Prepare individual treatment plans, weekly treatment plan reviews, progress notes, group notes, discharge summaries, and other client documents using ASAM language and criteria, with supervision from LADC.
  • Assist clients with accessing resources and systems in the community to meet their individual needs.
  • Facilitate billing and documentation of services.
  • Participate in clinical staff meetings and case reviews as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide coordination of services with collaterals such as probation, child protection, and community service providers.
  • Prepare discharge summaries with supervision from LADC.
  • Observe and debrief with LADC supervisor any crisis intervention scenarios which may occur.
  • Follow RS EDEN Policy and Procedure regarding collection of urinalysis and breathalyzer samples and document accordingly.
  • Promote and instill positive attitude and image in clients.
  • Supervise client day-to-day activities and work assignments within a therapeutic community structure.
  • Supervise client recreational and community activities, when applicable.
  • Serve as a role model for clients by displaying responsible behavior and conducting business with a sense of professionalism.
  • Safeguard personally identifiable health information (PHI) in accordance with duties and current agency HIPAA and 42 CFR standards.
