Job Description

The DOJ attorney team is looking for up to 15 full-time Law Clerks to provide day-to-day support for the Claim Review Team.

Requirements

Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study or, an equivalent level of legal training or experience or an equivalent level of education may be substituted
Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources
Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging
Experience in reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing claims, with the ability to apply established criteria to determine legal sufficiency
Strong Excel skills with experience using complex workbooks
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, including experience working with the public (claimants) and with external attorneys (claimants' legal representatives)
