Role Overview

The Lead Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking food items, maintaining the temperature of the items, and ensuring the safety and security of employees and guests. The Lead Cook will also be responsible for maintaining inventory, ordering food items, and monitoring performance to local competition.

What You Will Do

The Lead Cook will prepare soups, meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, desserts, and other food items. They will also be responsible for seasoning and garnishing food, preparing all soups and sauces, and keeping the cooking area clean and in an orderly state.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The Lead Cook will be a good fit for someone who is able to use all kitchen equipment and appliances, read and write basic instructions, and interpret production lists, menus, and Banquet event orders. The Lead Cook will also be responsible for completing accurate record keeping and following sanitation and health department regulations for safe handling of food.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Culinary arts courses or equivalent experience
  • One (1) – three (3) years’ experience as a line of restaurant cook
