Role Overview

The incumbent works independently on an assigned shift and exercises independent judgment when dealing with problems or special situations. The Lead Detention Officer assists with the corrections supervisor in administering and coordinating all administrative functions of the Detention Facility in accordance with policies and procedures. Ensures that all remaining requirements are met in a timely manner.

What You Will Do

Assists with the corrections supervisor in administering and coordinating all administrative functions of the Detention Facility. Prepares written reports of program activities and accomplishments upon request. Maintains the relationship between the O.T.P.S.C. Detention facility and other agencies providing programs and services to the jail.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The successful candidate will have the ability to view security screens and detention cells to monitor prisoner activity, maintain accurate and detailed records and accounting of prisoners and their personal effects, and train subordinates in the rules, regulations and procedures affecting their duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A.A. Degree preferred
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Federal Law Enforcement Training Center OR State of Nebraska Certification
  • Valid Nebraska Driver's license and be insurable by Tribal insurance
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certification
  • Ability to pass Jail Management training
  • Ability to pass (1) Drug and Alcohol test
