Role OverviewThe Lead Donor Care Specialist I, II will act as a resource for staff, assist with daily operations, and perform various tasks related to blood collections, donor screening, and quality control.
What You Will Do
Perform all aspects of whole blood collections, apheresis platelets collections, and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures, prepare reports and statistical data, and perform accurate documentation on all blood donor records.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Three (3) years donor phlebotomy experience required
- Minimum one (1) year apheresis phlebotomy experience required
- National Certification in Phlebotomy required and must maintain certification
- Current Donor Phlebotomy Technician, DPT (ASCP) Certification or Qualification in Donor Phlebotomy, QDP (ASCP) required and must be maintained
- Current Basic Life Support certification and must maintain certification
- Working knowledge of blood groups and Rh types and donation procedures
- Experience in handling moderate and severe adverse donor/patient reactions
- Prior experience with EMR systems preferred
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and to work under pressure
- Demonstrated strong leadership, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to triage work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency
- Demonstrated ability to maintain harmonious and cooperative relations with fellow employees, medical staff, patients and guests
