Lead Laboratory Processor - Pathology

Requirements

• Collects, labels, logs, and processes blood and other specimens
• Checks quality of samples and specimens
• Assembles supplies and equipment
• Monitors lab incubator/refrigerator temperatures
• Prepare specimens for referral to outside laboratories
• Acts as the Processing Supervisor in his/her absence
• Aids in training of new employees
• Orders all appropriate tests in LIS system
• Registers all drop-off specimens in GE IDX
• Ensures correct tubes and specimen containers have been submitted or collected
• Ensures CAP, UMPA, and GLP guidelines are followed
• Determines specimen acceptability
• Spins, separates, stores and distributes specimens to the appropriate area in the lab
