Boeing, Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) is seeking motivated, talented Lead Project Engineer to join our Space Launch Systems (SLS) program located in Huntsville, Alabama.

This role provides overall leadership and guidance to the design engineering/technical execution teams and is critical in ensuring the efficient operation of flight hardware production and maintenance, with a focus on problem-solving, and technical authority.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, manages, and reports on performance metrics for engineering first time quality and on time release

  • Managing production memo status and closure

  • Provides visibility to leadership resources required over the life of the project or program

  • Defines, managing, and mitigates team and program level risks and captures opportunities

  • Leads innovation and Oobeya operating rhythm to support business transformation initiatives

  • Compares actual performance to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned

  • Works under minimal direction

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • Experience with project management

  • Experience managing performance metrics

  • Experience using Microsoft Office products

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with project management tools or work in process tools (i.e. JIRA, ADO, and/or GitLab)

  • Previous CAM (cost account management) experience

  • Previous experience with developing integrated master schedules and performing schedule risk assessments  

  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written

  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners

  • Experience gaining trust of team and stakeholders

  • Previous launch vehicle manufacturing experience


NASA Site Access:

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $136,850 - $185,150
