Role Overview

The Lead Residential Counselor provides direct service to adults with mental health conditions in a residential setting. They help persons served to overcome barriers to independent living and implement treatment plan support interventions. The Lead Residential Counselor also assumes administrative roles to support the Program Director.

What You Will Do

The Lead Residential Counselor will provide crisis interventions, administer medications, perform physical site maintenance, and ensure a safe environment. They will also liaise with families, support persons served in obtaining medical and psychiatric care, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's degree in a human service discipline preferred
  • One year as a residential counselor in a setting working with Persons Served facing mental health challenges preferred
  • One to two years of job-specific experience in the human services field preferred
  • Bilingual/bicultural applicants and applicants with lived experience of psychiatric conditions preferred
  • Ability to make independent judgments and decisions
  • Ability to work in a professional and confidential capacity
  • Knowledge of personal computer applications and equipment
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have a current, valid, US drivers' license for at least 6 months
  • Must become CPR, First Aid certified within 2 weeks of employment and MAP certified within 150 days of employment
  • All candidates must be able to successfully pass a CORI, reference, multi-state background and driving record check
