Role Overview

The Department of Chemistry at Purdue University is seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Lecture Demonstration Coordinator to support engaging classroom experiences and foster a strong culture of safety. The role involves overseeing the daily operations of the lecture demonstration facility, developing and maintaining demonstrations, managing department audio-visual resources, and supervising undergraduate assistants. The position also serves as the department's Safety Coordinator, working closely with the Department of Safety & Sustainability Office and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to promote compliance, sustainability, and safety awareness across the department.

What You Will Do

Manage student staff and schedules, collaborate with faculty for the development of new demonstrations, and ensure compliance with safety regulations for proper handling of chemicals and safe practice in chemistry laboratories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related area
  • At least two (2) years of chemical safety experience
  • Familiarity with safety regulations for proper handling of chemicals and safe practice in chemistry laboratories
