Role OverviewThis Legal Assistant II position is in the Office of the Attorney General within the Criminal Appeals Unit in Tallahassee, Florida. The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States. The Legal Assistant II will assist in the processing and maintenance of all electronic media, including e-filings and evidence, and will maintain and file all records and reports on case activity.
What You Will Do
The duties of this position include drafting, editing, and preparing legal documents under the supervision of attorneys and staff, preparing routine correspondence based on preapproved document templates, and electronically filing documents with courts. The Legal Assistant II will also assist in the processing and maintenance of all electronic media, including e-filings and evidence, and will maintain and file all records and reports on case activity.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have two years of secretarial/clerical experience and a high school diploma or equivalency. Preference may be given to applicants with secretarial and/or legal secretarial experience, criminal appeals or criminal appellate work experience. The candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and will have excellent communication and organizational skills.
