Job Description
Role Overview

The Legal Counsel will have exposure to a wide range of legal issues relating to Company business, including product liability and safety, advertising law, employment law, corporate governance, and customer service-related legal support. The Legal Counsel will work with and support other members of the Legal and Compliance team in addition to working directly with business clients.

What You Will Do

Provides advice and counsel on product safety and liability issues, helps manage product liability-related litigation matters and claims with internal team and outside counsel, provides legal support to Customer Service department, provides legal support to Marketing department, including review of proposed advertising claims, provides advice and counsel on employment law issues, assists with corporate governance and record keeping, conducts legal review of product manuals and quick reference guides, manages aspects of outside counsel relationships, and collaborates with legal and compliance colleagues throughout North America and internationally.

Must have a JD degree from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing of one or more state bars within the U.S., excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, ability to maintain confidentiality in all client and business matters, ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, ability to be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities, ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks, excellent attention to detail and ability to follow through on multiple projects, ability to work in collaborative teamwork environment and share information with the appropriate parties, strong computer skills, ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all situations, ability to work effectively in a culturally and educationally diverse environment, potential domestic and international travel by car, airplane, and ability to work onsite at the New Bern, North Carolina site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Doctorate (Law/JD)
  • 3-5 Years’ experience with general corporate law
  • 3-5 Years’ experience with many or all of the job functions listed above
  • Must have a JD degree from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing of one or more state bars within the U.S.
