Job Description
The Ohio Department of Taxation is seeking multiple current law school students for our summer Legal Division Internship. As a legal intern, you will work directly with Department of Taxation attorneys in several areas, including administrative hearings, legislation, administrative rule making, and litigation.

Requirements

  • Assist with administrative hearings and drafting legal decisions on tax assessments and refund adjustments.
  • Conduct research projects that impact policy proposals and implementation.
  • Learn substantive and procedural areas of state law.
  • Help provide legal advice and guidance to members of the Department regarding evolving tax practices and policies.
  • Provide input and support research to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and members of Taxation on tax matters before the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court.
  • Create educational materials on Ohio’s tax laws for use by fellow taxpayers and employees.
  • Light administrative duties, including creating digitalized case files and reviewing taxpayer financial accounts.
