Job Description
The Leonard H. Sandler Fellowship, established in memory of Judge Leonard H. Sandler, is a 1-year opportunity to work with Human Rights Watch's New York or Washington D.C. offices. Fellows are expected to monitor human rights developments, conduct investigations, draft reports, and advocate for human rights. The fellowship aims to provide work experience, mentorship, and a supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Junior rank from Columbia Law School (J.D. by June 2026)
  • Strong background in international human rights and commitment to human rights work
  • Excellent communication skills (English)
  • Proficiency in one language in addition to English
  • Self-motivation, strong organizational skills and planning
  • Analytical and creative skills
  • Strong interpersonal and team-working skills
