Role Overview

The main role of the Teen & Young Adult Services LA3 is to schedule, plan, and implement library programs for patrons ages 13-21. This position works closely with the other LA3 positions to support a robust programming schedule and provide library collection assistance. The Library Associate 3 role is the senior role in the Library Associate job family and may supervise Library Associate 2s.

What You Will Do

Plans and presents teen and young adult programs, including technology, craft, and other classes. Manages the access and use of the Cybrarium Makerspace, VR, and acts as the primary staff liaison for the Cybrarium’s Teen Advisory Group.

Must know and understand the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement, and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required: Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Two years of experience in library support or paraprofessional position; or an equivalent combination of library experience, relevant curriculum or program development, instruction, and presentation experience.
  • Knowledge of teen literature, educational resources, and developmentally appropriate programming is preferred.
