Role OverviewThe Courier picks up, delivers, and routes library materials, equipment, and correspondence to and from Osceola Library System branches and other locations as assigned. The Courier will also perform a variety of customer service and paraprofessional duties with library circulation, such as shelving books, answering patron questions, helping patrons on computers, etc. The Courier will have a professional appearance, friendly manner, and an ability to communicate clearly with staff at all levels and provide excellent customer service to library patrons.
What You Will Do
The Courier must perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. Duties may include: providing excellent customer service, driving a company-owned vehicle, assisting in the sorting and routing of books, loading and unloading the courier van, reporting malfunctions with the company vehicle, scheduling and delivering the van for regular maintenance, maintaining the exterior and interior of the company-owned vans, fueling the company vehicle, operating and troubleshooting the library's two remote lockers, assisting patrons with locating materials, using computers, or explaining procedures, providing information regarding programs, events, conference rooms, etc., accepting and processing library patron payments, shelving library materials, addressing or escalating patron conduct or safety issues to appropriate management.

Requirements

- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Prior customer service experience or experience working with the public
