Role Overview

The State of Connecticut, Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join their team. The LPN will provide bedside care and mental health services to individuals with physical disabilities and/or an intellectual disability. The role requires flexibility to meet the needs of the agency and offers opportunities for professional growth and development.

What You Will Do

The LPN will assist doctors and nurses in general care and treatment, measure and administer medications, document medications, and perform various nursing treatments. They will also monitor individual needs, report changes, and keep the unit safe and healthy.

Requirements

  • License or temporary permit to practice nursing in Connecticut by the State Board of Examiners for Nursing
  • Multistate or Compact Licensed Practical Nurse license
  • Experience working with individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities
  • Experience communicating with non-verbal individuals
  • Experience with basic nursing skills
  • Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviors
  • Experience communicating with a diverse population
  • Experience in Supervision of staff
