Logistics & Shipping Clerk I

The Logistics & Shipping Clerk I is responsible for outbound shipping activities of the company. They assist in quoting, negotiating, and arranging freight shipments including heavy haul loads as well as coordinate regular warehouse shipping functions including small parcel and LTL.

What You Will Do

Prepare all material to be shipped by packing, wrapping, and assuring that material is protected for transport. Verify the correctness of outbound shipments against bills of lading, packing slip(s), invoices, manifests, etc. Ensure that proper documentation is prepared, accurately processed, distributed, and released to carriers, forwarders, customers, and agents in a timely manner.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent; or at least two years of shipping and logistics experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret freight quotes, bill(s) of lading, shipping documents, invoices and freight contracts.
• Ability to work effectively with multiple floor leads, project managers, and vendors and develop lasting rapport.
• Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as freight quotes and mileage costs as well as multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction.
• Ability to solve complex shipping and logistic problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Must have OSHA Forklift Certification
• Must possess a valid driver's license
• Must be able to operate/work safely around machinery/moving equipment.
