Role Overview

As a Machine Helper, you will be responsible for assisting operators on all presses, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations. You will work at a pace set by the machine operator, cross-train on other machines as necessary, and be willing to move up the line of progression to operator regardless of shift.

What You Will Do

Your main day-to-day responsibilities will include setting up slotting, feed, and die cut sections on machines accurately, assisting operators with other duties, monitoring board quality, and reporting any quality problems to the operator. You will also be responsible for completing necessary reports in a timely manner, turning in maintenance work orders to supervision, and being proactive in the maintenance of equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry
  • 6 months' experience as a Flexo or DieCut Helper
  • 6 months' experience in the Press and Finishing Departments
  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities
  • Product layouts and production specifications

  • Current Lift Truck Operator License (may be required)
