Job Summary
The Machine Operator I is responsible for safely setting up, operating, and performing basic troubleshooting on one assigned machine or piece of equipment. This entry-level position supports daily production activities while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency standards. Equipment may include Shear, PNL, Turret, Brake Press, Robotic Cell, Cut-to-Length, Roll Forming/Seaming, or Press Lock machinery.
Duties and Responsibilities
Set up, thread material through, and operate one assigned machine following standard work instructions.
Follow daily manufacturing work orders, paying close attention to material specifications and required documentation.
Perform basic machine adjustments and assist with troubleshooting under guidance as needed.
Assist with the operation of additional machinery under close supervision.
Support end-of-line packaging activities, including banding and palletizing metal coils and/or sheets.
Apply tags and labels to finished products in accordance with quality standards.
Perform quality checks to verify product dimensions and specifications using appropriate measuring tools.
Meet production goals while complying with all safety and quality requirements.
Assist with mounting and setting slitter knives, spacers, and guide discs for specified coil widths (roll former only).
Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and daily equipment inspections.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Entry-level manufacturing experience or mechanical aptitude preferred.
Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn.
Ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift; training will be provided if necessary. All production employees must complete CCM’s forklift certification program.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and attention to detail.
Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Basic math, computer, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to use basic measuring devices such as rulers, tapes, and gauges.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow direction from supervisors and peers.
Education and Experience
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of six (6) months of related manufacturing experience.
Working Conditions
Fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, mechanical parts, pinch points, varying temperatures, and elevated noise levels.
Schedule: 40 hours per week, 1st shift.
Workdays: Monday through Friday.
Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as business needs require.
