Job Description
The Maintenance Director is responsible for maintaining the facility physical plant and essential mechanical, electrical and patient/resident care equipment in safe operating condition, while managing employees and adhering to state and federal laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Collects and reviews maintenance requisitions from all units and departments
  • Reviews information, establishes priorities, assigns staff, inspects, replaces, repairs, or resolves problems
  • Maintains and tests emergency power systems, fire detection alarms, and extinguishing equipment
  • Performs daily duties of maintenance staff and maintains essential equipment
  • Establishes procedures to ensure potable water availability in case of loss of normal water supply
  • Monitors temperatures and starts repairs to eliminate hazards
  • Communicates with residents, families, and legal representatives to identify needs and abilities
  • Monitors performance of maintenance staff, observes, interviews, and evaluates compliance with laws and regulations
  • Develops and updates maintenance policies and procedures
  • Completes documentation and record keeping of maintenance activities, audits records for accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborates with consultants, monitors staff for OSHA compliance, and participates in budget development
  • Hires and retains qualified maintenance staff, and actively participates in long term care survey process
