Role OverviewMaintenance Workers work in a variety of Public Works and Utilities construction, maintenance, and repair projects. May be required to operate nonspecialized equipment in connection with manual tasks. Must have the ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions.
What You Will Do
Perform manual labor, operate light and medium-sized construction equipment, assist with construction of utility lines and facilities, perform landscaping duties, assist with routine inspections of equipment, and collect and dispose of solid waste.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Must have knowledge of general construction operations, OSHA compliance standards, ability to effectively communicate and interact with supervisors and others, and ability to use independent judgement and work with little direct supervision.
Requirements
- Valid Virginia (VA) Driver’s License
- Basic Flagger Certification (in-house) OR VDOT Flagger Certification
- Basic Work Zone Certification
