Job Description
Role Overview

The Maintenance Worker will assist in the routine maintenance, operation, and repair of public buildings and structures, and the equipment they contain. The role involves making necessary repairs to various components and appliances in apartments, conducting visual inspections of building equipment and conditions, and performing related work. The Maintenance Worker will work under direct supervision and will be responsible for assisting in moveout preparation, relocating building equipment, and visually inspecting public buildings and structures.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: adjusting and making minor repairs of building hardware, furniture, shelving, and equipment; replacing broken window and door glass; repairing windows and sash; making minor repairs to masonry, woodwork, flooring, and walls; making minor repairs to building electrical, plumbing, and heating systems; and preparing reports and keeping records.

The ideal candidate will have three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a mechanic, journeyperson, or helper in the electrical trades, mechanical trades, or construction or maintenance of buildings. The candidate should also have sufficient full-time training or education in the electrical, mechanical, or construction trades to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience.

Requirements

  • Three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a mechanic, journeyperson, or helper in the electrical trades, mechanical trades, or construction or maintenance of buildings
  • At least two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described above plus sufficient full-time training or education in the electrical, mechanical, or construction trades in a trade school, technical school, or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience
