Job Description
Direct Counsel is seeking a Manager of Legislative Affairs & Government Relations to join a highly respected government relations and public policy team affiliated with a leading national law firm. The ideal candidate will support legislative advocacy efforts, regulatory initiatives, and client development activities across a broad range of industries and policy areas.
Requirements
Support the government relations and legislative affairs function across federal and state policy matters
Monitor, analyze, and report on legislative and regulatory developments affecting clients
Develop and implement strategic advocacy initiatives and policy engagement plans
Assist with advocacy efforts before federal policymakers, agencies, and other stakeholders
Help identify and prioritize proactive legislative and regulatory opportunities
Collaborate with internal teams and leadership on business development and client strategy initiatives
Conduct policy research, prepare briefing materials, and draft client-facing communications
Assist with managing escalated issues and developing strategic problem-solving approaches for clients
Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, industry groups, and stakeholders
