Role Overview

The Managing Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading the Human Resources team and building people strategies that align with the culture and business objectives. This role leads various teams within Human Resources, including field HR teams and labor relations.

What You Will Do

The Managing Director will consult and collaborate with the President and Senior Leadership Team to develop people strategies, provide leadership and direction to the Human Resource teams, and work with senior leaders to design and execute effective people strategies.

The ideal candidate will have 7 years of Human Resources experience, 5 years of Senior Leadership experience, and previous experience working with labor unions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree specializing in Human Resources, Business Management, Organizational Development, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • 7 years of Human Resources experience.
  • 5 years of Senior Leadership experience.
  • Previous experience working with labor unions.
  • Strong consulting skills including negotiation, persuasion, coaching, teaching, influencing, listening and objectivity.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and flexible enough to quickly adjust and respond to changing priorities.
  • Ability to develop and motivate team members and maximize individual and team performance.
  • High degree of independent decision making and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proactive insight and strategic thinking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to travel (approximately 10-20%).
  • Ability to influence others, work cross-functionally, and contribute positively to a team-oriented, safety-first culture.
