Role Overview

The Material/Process Inspector I performs material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants, and/or at points of supply. The role involves conducting nuclear density tests, pavement evaluations, and coordinating test and inspection results with engineers, inspectors, and material producers and suppliers.

The essential duties of the Material/Process Inspector I include conducting nuclear density tests, performing pavement evaluations, coordinating test and inspection results, investigating compaction problems, and maintaining equipment and field record books.

Why It Might Be a Fit

This role requires attention to detail, performing calculations, and using computers and applicable programs. The ideal candidate will have a valid driver's license, certification in one of the listed HMA certifications, and experience in materials used in highway/bridge construction and maintenance.

Requirements

  • High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies
  • No experience required (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Certification in one of the listed HMA certifications within 12 months of date of hire
