Job Description
Niron Magnetics is scaling the production of advanced permanent magnets using a novel material formulation. They are seeking a highly analytical and hands-on Materials Data Scientist to lead experimental efforts in compaction and magnetics research. The role involves designing, executing experiments, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize material behavior and process improvement.
Requirements
Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Statistics, or related fields
Proven experience with DOE techniques and statistical modeling
Strong background in materials characterization, especially in compaction mechanics and magnetic properties
Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, R, MATLAB, or JMP
Familiarity with instrumentation for compaction (e.g., press systems) and magnetics (e.g., VSM, HGR)
Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for experimental rigor
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
