Job Description
Niron Magnetics is scaling the production of advanced permanent magnets using a novel material formulation. They are seeking a highly analytical and hands-on Materials Data Scientist to lead experimental efforts in compaction and magnetics research. The role involves designing, executing experiments, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize material behavior and process improvement.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Statistics, or related fields
  • Proven experience with DOE techniques and statistical modeling
  • Strong background in materials characterization, especially in compaction mechanics and magnetic properties
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, R, MATLAB, or JMP
  • Familiarity with instrumentation for compaction (e.g., press systems) and magnetics (e.g., VSM, HGR)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for experimental rigor
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
