Role OverviewCovia is looking for a dynamic Mechanic, 1st Class who will have a positive impact on our team at our McIntyre, GA location. The Mechanic, 1st Class is accountable to ensure the safe and productive operation of the plant.
What You Will Do
Perform each and every job in a safe and timely manner with full adherence to all corporate and site safety policies; diagnose mechanical or equipment failure; maintain a clean area while working on projects and after completing projects.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities: perform all preventative maintenance as needed in the plant; work on all parts of belt conveyors, bucket elevators, and screw conveyors; diagnose mechanical or equipment failure; demonstrate the ability to weld that will pass a bend test with MIG and stick welding.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Literacy in English, both verbally and written
- Previous experience within mining operations (preferably sand) preferred
- Prior exposure to an understanding of operational equipment in mining or heavy industry
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment adequately
- Demonstrated commitment to safety with previous experience in identifying and managing risks
- Demonstrated experience contributing within a team of professionals to deliver set targets
