Role Overview

The Mechanic Helper is responsible for assisting the Mechanic in repairing fertilizer equipment and vehicles. The role involves cleaning engines, equipment, and parts, maintaining the shop and tools, and performing general housekeeping duties. The Mechanic Helper will also test equipment and vehicles after repairs and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

What You Will Do

Cleans engines, equipment, and parts on fertilizer equipment and vehicles. Maintains shop and tools. Performs general housekeeping duties of shop and restroom. Washes vehicles and equipment as needed. Tests equipment and vehicles after repairs. May be required to operate a company vehicle.

Why It Might Be a Fit

Mechanically inclined is required. Knowledge of small engine repairs is required. Body work repair experience is preferred. Previous employment at a mechanic shop is preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak in English is required. Communicating in Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Mechanically inclined is required.
  • Knowledge of small engine repairs is required.
  • Body work repair experience is preferred.
  • Previous employment at a mechanic shop is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English is required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license is required and must meet all company requirements to drive a Helena vehicle.
  • Applicants for positions requiring operation of a moving vehicle or interaction with heavy equipment must meet legal age requirement.
